Jarrod Hollinger is the proud owner of Aspen Outfitting Company. Born and raised in Aspen, Jarrod has spent much of his life on the area rivers and surrounding mountains. From his first job as a bicycle delivery boy for a local take-out restaurant at age 12, Jarrod has been involved in the local service industry, always focused on customer service. Jarrod graduated from Aspen High School and subsequently from Bishop’s University in Quebec Canada with a degree in Business Administration and Management.

Aspen Outfitting guide Tom Menas grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and started his fly fishing career chasing steelhead, trout, and warm water species in northern MI. In 2013 he made the move to Colorado. He has spent the majority of his time since guiding the Roaring Fork, Eagle, and Colorado Rivers. Tom says that he has his father to thank for getting him introduced to the sport at a very young age. He jokes that fly fishing has controlled the direction of his life choices for a very long time...
According to Tom, a good day on the river requires having a good attitude. Show up and be willing to have a great time, and you will! The fish are just a bonus.
His favorite part about guiding is showing off pristine fish in some of the most beautiful places on the planet. As a fly fishing guide, Tom considers himself a coach. He enjoys teaching beginners the basics and helping them catch fish with efficiency, but also loves tweaking tactics for the most experienced anglers — “You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, or at least help break bad habits...” As far as go-to equipment? You won’t find Tom on the river without his @ablereels fishing line clippers (aka - nippers.)

A good day on the river for Flinn comes from having a positive attitude and an open mind. She says fishing has always been a safe space for her personally — it creates the opportunity for exploration and adventure, and allows you to slow down and appreciate the natural world. Flinn makes sure to emphasize how lucky she is to spend time on beautiful riverbanks when she’s out guiding with clients. The places that the pursuit of trout takes you is really what it’s all about for Flinn, and she enjoys sharing that experience with others on the water.

Born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley, Ray D'Noffrio (@raydnoffrio) has been guiding for about 7 years — but he was no stranger to fly fishing prior to his guiding days. As a skier from a young age, Ray found his love for fly fishing when he was on a ski trip to Mt. Hood, Oregon. The famous salmon fly hatch on the Deschutes River had Ray catching huge rainbows on massive dry flies on his "down days" from skiing. He couldn’t believe how much fun it was!
Ray’s favorite part about guiding is the smiles, and he insists that any day is a good day when you're out on the river. He notes that once the pressure of 'having' to catch a fish wears off is when his guests start to truly enjoy the river — and ironically is often when they actually start catching fish too! Ray’s basic approach to guiding is to get people comfortable with the river first thing. Ray likes to explain that on a fishing trip, "We walk right into the homes of these fish. In the same way that you show respect for a person’s home, as anglers we need to be respectful of the river. When you show respect is when the river starts to give respect back." To Ray, that is the beauty of fly fishing. Nothing is given, everything is earned. He loves that even the most seasoned angler is humbled by an "off" day from time to time.
When Ray isn't guiding he's usually still, wait for it... fishing! That said, come winter time you can still catch Ray adding in some skiing and snowmobiling to the recreational mix. As a mountain-town resident he loves being outside and embracing all of the beauty we have surrounding us — rain or shine. He then got hooked on fly fishing during his college years - fishing the Animas and San Juan Rivers in southern Colorado. Joe has an extensive educational background - boasting two master’s degrees, one in creative writing and another in addiction science and counseling. When not guiding he is an Addiction Counselor at Midvalley Family Practice in Basalt.
Joe’s favorite part of guiding is seeing the “lightbulb moment” when a guest catches a beautiful trout and it helps them simply let their daily grind go - allowing them to take in the peacefulness the river offers. He loves sharing this incredible river with good people.
Joe won’t be found on the water without his LifeStraw Water Purifier. When he isn’t fishing he enjoys spending time with his fiancé, friends and family; tending to his garden; getting out deep into the mountains; reading; and finding edible mushrooms and plants in the wild.

Joe was hoisting her up by the wader belt when he noticed that she had a fish on the line! She got her rod tip up, her feet under her, and landed the fish, water-filled waders and all! They quickly posed for a photo and successfully released the trout.

Nicky guided his first trip 12 years ago in Breckenridge, CO and has been guiding exclusively on the Roaring Fork River for the past 3 years. His dad had him pick up a fly rod at the age of 7, but Nicky really felt ownership of the sport at 12 — when he got his first set of waders, and was allowed to explore the river on his own.
A good day on the river can have several themes for Nicky; the company of a good friend, the timing of a specific hatch, an encounter with a trout of mythic proportions, or the peace, quiet and solitude that leads to a revelation in your life completely apart from fishing. That said, he says that the very best days on the river are pretty hard to put into words — it’s more a feeling/connection/essence that you’re standing exactly where you should be in that moment.

Cian’s father has always had a passion for fly fishing, and Cian started following him through trout streams with a spinning rod and bucket of worms at age 5. Cian was mesmerized by the way his father coaxed fish to eat dry flies — it seemed like a superpower. When Cian turned 10, his grandfather bought him a little Redington 3 weight. Cian hasn’t looked back since!
College brought Cian out to Colorado where he studied Organismal Biology, Ecology, and Comparative Literature at Colorado College.
Cian says that a good day on the river includes friends, new water, and trying to solve the ever-changing puzzle that rivers present. Cian has made some of his best friends while fishing and feels nostalgic when he returns to special spots on certain rivers. One of his fishing buddies passed away 2 years ago while on his way to a dream job guiding fly fishing in Russia. Cian and other friends that had the pleasure of knowing him like to say that they’re now “fishing for Jeremy.”
Cian’s favorite part about being a guide is seeing the moment of chaos and excitement that happens every time someone hooks a fish, whether it is their first trout or ten thousandth — it never gets old!
When guiding, Cian makes it a goal to have the guests leave the river having learned something new. That might be basic casting mechanics for a beginner, but it might be nuanced specifics about entomology, or the technicalities of a given fly presentation for a seasoned fisherman. While he loves catching fish, Cian really enjoys educating people about the ecosystem and sharing this beautiful place with them.

Lawrence Masson has been guiding for Aspen Outfitting Company for 2 seasons. Lawrence grew up abroad with his mother, who is Venezuelan, and his father, who is originally from Switzerland. When he moved to Aspen as a manager at the St. Regis 8 years ago, he knew he had found his permanent home.
Lawrence has always loved fishing but had never been exposed to freshwater or fly fishing until he moved to Aspen. His best friend started getting into it and inspired him to pick up the sport as well. Lawrence hasn’t looked back since!

He immediately felt that the fight and the fish were worth the broken rod – especially when he realized that the rod had a lifetime warranty on it!

Bryce grew up in both Aspen and Steamboat Springs and has a real soft spot for the local rivers. He would frequently fish with his roommates and long-time guide friends between split shifts at the ski shop and days off in the spring.
For Bryce, any day on the river is a good day. He especially loves going out on the river in the spring when temperatures aren’t too hot and you have the place all to yourself.
His favorite part about guiding is sharing his passion for fly fishing and our amazing scenery with guests and getting to be outside all day. His personal approach is to not overcomplicate things for the guests and give them as much local knowledge as possible. He won’t be caught on the river without his Nomad net-which makes landing those big fish that much easier.
When Bryce isn’t guiding he also teaches mountain biking at the Snowmass Bike Park and loves to go fish or ride for himself whenever possible, especially when he can share a “fish date” with his wife Jordan and pup, Indi.
One story stands out for Bryce that he will never forget. The first 20" fish he hooked on the Roaring Fork when learning to fly fish. He got him close enough to see it but the hook pulled right before he could get it to the net. And that was the fish that really got him HOOKED!
He fishes because it's an amazing way to slow everything down and forget about all the other hectic things going on for a little while.

His personal approach is to not overcomplicate things for the guests and give them as much local knowledge as possible. He won’t be caught on the river without his Nomad net-which makes landing those big fish that much easier.
When Bryce isn’t guiding he also teaches mountain biking at the Snowmass Bike Park and loves to go fish or ride for himself whenever possible, especially when he can share a “fish date” with his wife Jordan and pup, Indi.
One story stands out for Bryce that he will never forget. The first 20" fish he hooked on the Roaring Fork when learning to fly fish. He got him close enough to see it but the hook pulled right before he could get it to the net. And that was the fish that really got him HOOKED!
He fishes because it's an amazing way to slow everything down and forget about all the other hectic things going on for a little while.
