This past week brought us sunshine, snow and a wide range of temperatures. As a result, we’ve been seeing river conditions change throughout the week, but we’ve been catching fish throughout it all! Nymphing continued to be productive during the colder streaks, and we were really excited to see some fish rising during the warmer days. Dust off those dry fly boxes, because we’re starting to catch fish on the surface!

We had some fun in the snow this week! The front that moved in on Monday and Tuesday changed river conditions, but the fishing was great. Colder weather caused the water to clear up and river levels to drop slightly. The fishing early and late in the day slowed down during the transition between high and low pressure systems, but the mid day bite picked up noticeably as the storm settled in. Fish are feeding aggressively right now, but colder days and clearer water mean a return to the winter staples.

If you didn’t get a chance to do some fishing this past week, get out there this weekend! We have another front moving in at the beginning of next week, but the weekend is shaping up to be warm, sunny and glorious. Water temperatures should be on the rise, and the fish will be active. On sunny days with low water make sure you’re being stealthy, downsizing tippet and wearing sunscreen!

Warmer weather this week made for some great fishing! The fish are relatively concentrated right now, so once you find them be patient and focus on getting good drifts. We’ve got some weather moving in this weekend, but water temps should remain stable as the forecast shows lows in the mid 20’s and highs of around 40 degrees. That means we should have beautiful, snowy banks and good fishing!
